What are the zhangjiajie train station?
As a tourist city, Zhangjiajie has 4 train stations, but 99% of tourists only use to focus on these 2:
- Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (High Speed Railway Station)
- Location: Shadi Street in the north of the city, 18 minutes by taxi from Tianmen Mountain Scenic Spot
- Role: connecting Zhangjihuai high-speed railroad and Qianchang Railway, it is the fastest high-speed railroad station to the scenic spot
2.Zhangjiajie Station (Ordinary Railway Station)
- Location: Guanli Road in the center of the city, suitable for backpackers with limited budgets
- Characteristics: mainly slow trains, to Beijing, Shanghai and other big cities need to transit
The other two train stations Sangzhi Station and Cili Station are far from the scenic spots, so unless you are going to the neighboring counties, you can just ignore them.
- Sangzhi Station: located in the north of Zhangjiajie, with fewer trains, suitable for tourists from neighboring counties.
- Cili Station: close to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Scenic Area, but with sparse frequency13.
Ride suggestions: recommended to choose West Station for free trip (fast high-speed train), and Zhangjiajie Station for group tour (near downtown).
Zhangjiajie west railway station:Your starting point for traveling
As the second largest high-speed railway station in Hunan, the design of the West Station amazed me at the first glance — it looks like an eagle with spread wings, with a modern sense of streamline shape and glass curtain wall on the roof.
There are 7 platforms and 17 tracks, with 96 trains stopping every day, including direct high-speed trains to major cities like Beijing and Shenzhen.
Ultra-practical details:
- Transportation connection: 4 bus lines directly to downtown and the airport (No. 4/6/16/17), with a ticket price of about USD 0.6
- Special services: the station has a shared car rental area, a tourist information center, and you can also buy souvenirs in the underground shopping street
- Neighboring attractions: taxi to Tianmen Mountain US$3.8 (18 minutes), bus to Wulingyuan Scenic Spot US$3.4 (40 minutes)

- Weather: cloudy and foggy in March (remember to bring a waterproof jacket), mostly sunny in May
- Essential items to bring:
- Waterproof hiking shoes (slippery stone paths)

- Thin down jacket (the top of the mountain is 5℃ colder than the bottom)

My personal advice
- Preferred West Station: High-speed rail is fast and comfortable, and you can take the tourist line right out of the station.
- Flexible Ticketing: If direct tickets are sold out, go to Changsha South Station first (more trains).
- Accommodation choice: live near Tianmen Mountain and choose West Station, live in Wulingyuan and choose East Bus Station.
- Weather inquiry: 3 days in advance to check the “Zhangjiajie intelligent tourism” official website real-time weather
