By Air:
You can take a flight from Shanghai's major airports, like Shanghai Pudong International Airport or Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, to Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport. The flight duration is usually around 2 to 2.5 hours, which is the fastest option, allowing you to quickly reach your destination and save a great deal of travel time.
By Train:
There is no direct high-speed train. You may first take a high-speed train to Changsha, the capital city of Hunan province. Trains from Shanghai Hongqiao Station to Changsha South Station take around 4 - 5 hours. Then, transfer to a regular train or long-distance bus at Changsha to head to Zhangjiajie, which will add several more hours to the journey.
By Self-driving:
The distance is quite long, approximately over 1,200 kilometers. It takes about 14 - 15 hours depending on road conditions and driving speed. Drivers need to plan proper rest stops along the way to avoid fatigue.
