The stunning Yellow Dragon Cave in Zhangjiajie’s eastern Suoxiyu Nature Reserve provides a unique look into the underground world.

Conveniently located, Yellow Dragon Cave is accessible via public transportation. From Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station (next to Zhangjiajie Railway Station), take a direct bus to Wulingyuan Bus Station and transfer to Bus Line 1 to reach the cave. Travel time is 2.5 hours and costs 15 yuan.

Visitors can take a boat excursion on Echoing Water River on the cave’s second level to see the unique underground beauty.

Yellow Dragon Cave is near Zhangjiajie, China. Known for its stunning limestone structures and complicated caves, eight local youth militias discovered it in 1983 and opened it to the public on October 1, 1984.
The four-layered cave covers 100,000 square meters and features a 3,200-meter tour route, including 800 meters of river. It is called the “all-around champion karst cave in the world” for its stalactites, stalagmites, and underground rivers.
The Dragon Palace, one of the largest and oldest caverns in the Yellow Dragon Cave, with a base area of 15,000 square meters and an average height of 40 meters. The cave’s second floor features the Bruinen River and the Key Stand, a 19.2-meter stalagmite with a 10-cm diameter at its thinnest point.
Other attractions in the cave include the “Loess Plateau” with a massive stone waterfall, Huaguo Hill with little water-drop-like stones, Tianzhu Street with China’s longest stone bridge, and more.
The cave is colder than outdoors, so pack heavy clothes. The admission cost for adults is 121 yuan, and the hours are 07:00 to 17:30 from March to November and 08:00 to 16:00 from December to February.
