My first stop was Beijing, a city where the ancient and the modern mingle. Early in the morning, I strolled between the red walls and yellow tiles of the Forbidden City, feeling the majesty and grandeur of the imperial families of the Ming and Qing dynasties. In the afternoon, I climbed the Badaling Great Wall, overlooking the winding and undulating mountains, imagining the heroic scenes of the ancient generals defending their country. In the evening, I went to the National Grand Theater and enjoyed a wonderful Peking Opera performance, feeling the charm of traditional Chinese art.

Leaving Beijing, I took a high-speed train to Xi'an, the ancient capital of the 13th Dynasty. At the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, I was struck by the thousands of terracotta warriors, as if I had traveled back to the Qin Dynasty and witnessed the grandeur of Qin Shi Huang's unification of the six kingdoms. In Hui Min Street, I tasted a variety of special snacks, mutton buns, meat sandwiches, cold skin …… every bite makes me savor.

Next, I flew to Guilin, a city famous for its beautiful landscape. I took a bamboo raft drifting on the Li River, both sides of the strange peaks, the river water is crystal clear, as if in an ink painting. In the West Street of Yangshuo, I felt the blend of Chinese and Western cultures, tasted the authentic beer fish, and enjoyed the wonderful ethnic singing and dancing performances.

Finally, I came to Shanghai, a vibrant international metropolis. At the Bund, I admired the skyscrapers on both sides of the Huangpu River and felt the prosperity and fashion of Shanghai. In Yuyuan Garden, I strolled through the classical gardens, feeling the elegance and delicacy of the Jiangnan water town. In the Shanghai Museum, I savored the profoundness of ancient Chinese art.

This trip to China gave me a deeper understanding of this ancient oriental country. I marveled at China's long history and splendid culture, and also felt the hospitality of the Chinese people. China, a country worth exploring over and over again, will have new discoveries and insights with every trip.
